FOICOMMONS
House of Commons

13 June 2008

Dear Mr Walker

No information is held about the names of MPs who are graduates. You
might be able to find this information in 'Who's Who' or other
biographies on-line (e.g., http://www.dodonline.co.uk/)

In relation to employees of the House of Commons, while details of
education and qualifications may or may not be recorded on job
application forms held on personnel files and separate records will
record staff names and grades no separate record identifying the
information you require is maintained. In addition qualifications
attained since starting employment might not necessarily be recorded.
Therefore the information you require is not held for the purposes of
the Freedom of Information Act.

In addition, if the information was held by the House for the purposes
of the Freedom of Information Act, we have assessed the work that would
be required to locate, retrieve and extract the information from each of
around 1,500 manual files and other records then compile the summary in
the format requested and have estimated that the time that it would take
would exceed the appropriate limit, i.e. cost threshold, as set out in
the Fees Regulations. The appropriate limit applies when it is estimated
that the work described above would exceed 24 hours.

As the House has estimated that the cost of complying with your request
would exceed the appropriate limit, as described in section 12(1) of the
Freedom of Information Act the House is released from its obligation to
provide the information you have requested and the information will not
be supplied.

Information about the fees regulations can be found here:

http://www.foi.gov.uk/practitioner/feesg...

The House will consider complaints in relation to its handling of this
request. These should be addressed to the Freedom of Information and
Data Protection Officer, Department of Resources, House of Commons,
London SW1A 0AA or [House of Commons request email]. Please ensure that you
specify the nature of your complaint and any arguments or points that
you wish to make.

If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information
Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely

Bob Castle
